WYSU-FM exceeds fund goal by getting more than $90K

YOUNGSTOWN -- WYSU-FM had hoped to raise at least $87,500 during its annual one-week Fall Fund Membership Drive.
The campaign, which ended Friday, did better than that, netting more than $90,000 in pledges and donations. The station's Web site noted that the goal was passed Friday with three hours left in the campaign and the calls kept coming in. The result was a record amount collected during one of the radio station's two (spring and fall) annual campaigns.
Some 1,200 donors contributed during this fund drive. The money goes to operations and programming which has a total annual cost of about $800,000. The university, business and corporate sponsors and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting help meet that cost.
