RALEIGH, N.C. -- Frantisek Kaberle scored early in the third period and the Carolina Hurricanes rallied from a two-goal deficit to hand the Ottawa Senators their first loss of the season. Eric Staal and Matt Cullen also scored for the Hurricanes, and Martin Gerber finished with 44 saves. Patrick Eaves and Jason Spezza scored for Ottawa (6-1-0). The Nashville Predators (7-0) are the only remaining unbeaten team in the NHL.
Maple Leafs 5, Bruins 4, SO
TORONTO -- Eric Lindros scored the only goal in a shootout, and Ed Belfour made 49 saves to lead Toronto past Boston. After Lindros scored on Toronto's first attempt in the shootout, Boston's Joe Thornton beat Belfour with a deke but his shot hit off the post. Bryan McCabe had a goal and an assist for the Maple Leafs, who have won five of six. The veteran defenseman has 15 points in nine games. Tie Domi, Alexander Khavanov and Alexei Ponikarovsky also scored for the Maple Leafs, with Lindros assisting on Domi's goal. Brad Boyes, Patrick Leahy, Ian Moran and Glen Murray scored for the Bruins.
