The World Series (7:30 p.m., Fox): It's time for baseball's fall classic as the 101st World Series

The World Series (7:30 p.m., Fox): It's time for baseball's fall classic as the 101st World Series gets under way in the home ballpark of the American League champion. Who will get to dance around like giddy school kids and pour champagne all over each other? Announcers Joe Buck and Tim McCarver call the action.
"My First Place" (9 p.m., HGTV): Everybody remembers their first time ... as homeowners, that is. Now HGTV's weekly half-hour series, "My First Place," chronicles that "turnkey moment" as first-time homeowners move into their new digs, and set about making it their own. On each episode, first-time owners of high-rise condos, townhouses, apartments, new houses and "fixer-uppers" meet with a designer who, with a $3,000 design budget, offers a bit of advice and lots of emotional support.
College football (7 p.m., ESPN2): All of the doubters about the coaching ability of Penn State's Joe Paterno seem to have retreated back into the woodwork. The surprising start by the Nittany Lions this season has fans hoping for a bowl bid. Tonight, the blue-and-white take on the bottom of the barrel in the Big Ten Conference, Illinois.
"Close Encounters of the Third Kind" (10 p.m., ABC Family): Every now and then, the usually plain-vanilla programming of ABC Family channel adds a flavoring that gets your attention. Don't get us wrong, we love this movie. UFOs? Elaborate government cover-ups? A crazed Richard Dreyfuss and five of the most famous musical notes in film? Just as long as they don't "TV edit" Spielberg's masterpiece to shreds, this will be hard to ignore tonight.
"Tuckerville" (10 p.m., TLC): Country music star Tanya Tucker opens the door on her daily life in this new reality series. Single mom Tucker tackles the family issues and career challenges faced by many mothers, but Tucker does it all before the cameras. Oh, yes, and her home is a sprawling Nashville estate, while her workplace is usually center stage or on tour with her band.
