EAST PALESTINE -- The Columbiana High football team rallied from a 19-13 deficit to upend East Palestine, 27-19, on Friday, setting up a showdown for the Tri-County title next Friday against Crestview.
Mike Welce carried 19 times for 107 yards and three touchdowns -- including the game's final two scores -- and Joey Winters added 202 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown for Columbiana (9-0, 6-0), which entered the game ranked fourth in Division VI in the Associated Press poll and first in the Region 21 computer ratings.
The Clippers had already clinched a home playoff game.
Beau Papania added 13 carries for 63 yards as the Clippers rolled up 409 yards on the ground and 429 total. Papania also had an interception.
Zac Dunn carried 16 times for 120 yards for East Palestine (2-7, 2-4), which had 161 yards rushing. Dunn completed 5-of-12 passes for 60 yards, including TD passes to Joe Thompson and Scott Frank.
Leetonia 16, Southern 0
LEETONIA -- The Leetonia defense scored twice and pitched a shutout in beating Southern.
The Bears (6-3, 3-3 TCL) blocked a punt out of the end zone in the first period; then Josh Selway returned a fumble 41 yards for the closing score for the Bears, who held Southern to 153 yards total offense.
Jon Williams scored Leetonia's lone offensive touchdown on a 2-yard run. Williams finished with 75 yards on 15 carries.
Nick Puckett led Southern (3-6, 1-5) with 65 yards on 19 attempts.
Lisbon 21, Wellsville 7
WELLSVILLE -- Dana Rose carried 29 times for 113 yards, and Josh Grafton added 10 carries for 78 yards to lead Lisbon (6-3, 3-3), which held a 248-36 yard edge on the ground.
Quarterback Steve Tsilimos had eight carries for 57 yards and a touchdown and also completed 6-of-9 passes with an interception and a 12-yard touchdown pass to Marcus Judy.
Jamaar Pullie had 15 carries for 58 yards for Wellsville (3-6, 0-6), but the Blue Devils' defense -- led by Vince Brown's nine tackles -- repeatedly stopped the Tigers for negative yardage. Lee Tilton completed 5-of-15 passes for 37 yards.
