Senators 4, Lightning 1
TAMPA, Fla. -- Daniel Alfredsson scored a short-handed goal to break a tie and Ottawa remained the Eastern Conference's only unbeaten team. Dany Heatley, Chris Neil and Peter Schaefer each had a goal and an assist each for Ottawa (6-0-0), while Dominik Hasek stopped 23 shots in 600th career game. Nashville (6-0-0) is the NHL's only other unbeaten team. Dmitry Afanasenkov scored for the Lightning, who have lost three straight home games, one in a shootout. Alfredsson put the Senators up 2-1 at 3:43 of the second and Heatley made it 3-1 2:15 into the third period.
Red Wings 3, Mighty Ducks 2
DETROIT -- Pavel Datsyuk, Robert Lang and Mikael Samuelsson scored power-play goals for Detroit. It was Red Wings coach Mike Babcock's first game against his former team. He coached the Mighty Ducks in 2002-03 and 2003-04. Anaheim swept Detroit in the first round of the 2003 playoffs and went on to the Stanley Cup finals, losing to the New Jersey Devils in seven games. Jason Woolley had two assists and Manny Legace made 23 saves for Detroit, which improved to 7-1. Teemu Selanne and Ryan Getzlaf, with his first NHL goal, scored for the Ducks.
Avalanche 7, Oilers 1
EDMONTON, Alberta -- Milan Hejduk had two goals and an assist in his first game of the season to lead Colorado, which snapped a three-game losing streak. Hejduk missed the entire preseason and first six games of the regular season following surgery on his right knee. Edmonton goalie Jussi Markkanen gave up three goals on 13 shots and Ty Conklin, his backup, allowed four goals in the second period as the Oilers lost their sixth straight.
