Purchase with a Purpose
NILES -- Eastwood Mall is sponsoring a Purchase with a Purpose event Nov. 6 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.
Customers must buy a $10 ticket and all the proceeds will go to designated charities: Warren Rotary, Fine Arts Council, Northeast Ohio Adoption Services, Niles Kiwanis, Warren Junior Women's League, Animal Welfare, Trumbull County 4-H Advisory Committee, Trumbull Community Action Program and Youngstown State University HPES Majors Club. Organization members also are selling tickets. Tickets also may be obtained at the mall's main entrances.
The evening will include store discounts, giveaways and special entertainment.
Dining with Diabetes
CORTLAND -- A three-week Dining with Diabetes series of classes will be held from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 2, 9 and 16, at Trumbull County Agriculture and Family Education center, 520 West Main St.
The class is open to diabetics, their family members and caretakers. It is sponsored by the Ohio State University Extension of Trumbull County, Trumbull County Health Department, and Forum Health/Diabetes Help. The cost of the series is $20. Pre-registration is required.
Those enrolled will be taught how to prepare meals that are healthy, easy to make and delicious. They will also learn up-to-date information on nutrition, meal planning, exercise and how to understand diabetes-related medical tests. Recipe books and diabetes brochures will be handed out.

Yoga, massage, therapy
HOWLAND -- The Yoga Room of Cortland will offer a luncheon/seminar titled "Balancing Your Life Through Yoga, Massage and Aromatherapy" on Thursday at the Butler Museum of American Art, 9350 East Market St.
Registration will begin at 11 a.m., with a light lunch to follow.
After lunch, Dawn Perhacs, owner of the Yoga Room; Susan Sexton, licensed massage therapist; and Mary Brown, aromatherapy expert, will give presentations.

Adoption classes offered
WARREN -- Northeast Ohio Adoption Services invites singles and couples interested in adoption or in becoming foster parents to an informational meeting on Nov. 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Warren office, 5000 E. Market St.

Lifeguard training
The American Red Cross will offer lifeguard training Monday evenings from Oct. 31 through Dec. 19 at the Mahoning Chapter, 8392 Tod Ave., Boardman, and the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown.
Candidates must be at least 15 years old. Class size is limited.

Parenting classes
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Penn State Cooperative Extension in Lawrence County is presenting a five-part series on "The Challenges of Being a Parent" in November and December.
Dates are Nov. 15, 22 and 29 and Dec. 6 and 13 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the third floor of the Lawrence County Courthouse, 430 Court St.

Planned Parenthood
YOUNGSTOWN -- Planned Parenthood will hold its first Global Celebration and experience family planning in Jamshedpur, India, Nov. 7 at Mill Creek MetroParks D.D. and Velma Davis Education and Visitor's Center, 123 McKinley Ave.
Cocktails will be at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:15 and awards and program will follow. This cost will be $35 per person or $125 per sponsor. The buffet will include Indian and non-Indian entrees, cash wine bar, soft drinks, coffee and tea.

Adult CPR classes
BOARDMAN -- Adult CPR classes will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the Red Cross building on McClurg Road and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Charles Church, U.S. Route Route 224 and Market Street
The four-hour classes cover all aspects of adult CPR including signs and symptoms of heart attacks, rescue breathing, obstructed airway and how to act in all kinds of emergencies.
Participants receive a participant manual and certification in adult CPR. Cost is $30 per participant. Additional classes available at discount rates.
