Lape brothers help Boardman to place fourth



CANTON -- Boardman junior Jake Lape finished seventh overall and his twin brother Rick placed 14th as the Spartans took fourth place in Division I at Saturday's district cross country meet at Malone College, earning a regional tournament berth.
Boardman sophomore Matt Moore was 16th as the Spartans placed five runners in the top 52.
Massillon Perry won the team title and Wooster senior Andrew Lanham won the race. Austintown Fitch junior Ross Lenehan placed 17th to qualify as an individual for the regional meet, which will take place Saturday at Boardman High School.
On the girls side, Boardman freshman Lauren Agnew placed 10th and senior Lauren Blase placed 21st to qualify for the regional. Massillon Jackson sophomore Emily Pritt placed first to lead the Polar Bears to the team title.
Division III
Lisbon junior Kyle Crismon finished an area-best 14th in the boys Div. III race as the Blue Devils grabbed the fifth and final team qualifying spot. Sophomore Justin Rupp placed 24th as Lisbon had five runners in the top 56. Columbiana senior Aaron Brown placed 15th to qualify as an individual.
East Canton sophomore James Gibson won the race to lead the Hornets to the team title.
On the girls side, Columbiana freshman Stephanie Case was the only area qualifier, finishing sixth overall. Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy freshman Carolyn Case won the race as the Royals took the team title.
