WARREN -- Warren JFK's Anthony Elzy exploded for four touchdowns and 106 rushing yards in the first half alone as the Eagles opened up a 41-14 halftime lead and cruised past Campbell in a high school football game Saturday at Mollenkopf Stadium.
The senior tailback had two 1-yard TD runs and also scored from 33 and 57 yards out. Quarterback J.J. Townsend scored on a 9-yard run and passed 13 yards to Dorian Rodgers for another score for the Eagles.
The Eagles (8-1), ranked third in the Division V, Region 17 computer ratings, also forced four Campbell turnovers in the first half to aid the win.
JFK, which hasn't lost to the Red Devils since 1999, dominated from the start of the contest.
Quick start
After Pat Murphy recovered a bad Campbell punt snap at the Red Devils' 30-yard-line, JFK traveled 30 yards in five plays before Townsend and Rodgers hooked up on the 13-yard scoring play. JFK took advantage of another turnover early in the second quarter on the Red Devils' 9 and Elzy needed just two runs to score.
Campbell finally got on the board with an impressive 12-play, 58-yard drive led by strong running from sophomore Dominique Lucky and the passing of quarterback Joe Faunda. The sophomore QB capped the scoring drive with a 5-yard pass to tight end Lonnie McQueen.
The Eagles answered immediately on their next drive when Elzy scored his third TD on a 57-yard run. Campbell answered with an 82-yard kickoff return by Brandon Sibley.
