'JACKIE'S DREAM'
'JACKIE'S DREAM'
By Cheryl Ciavarella
A Youngstown woman was so moved by the story of the Novak family and their loss that she wrote a poem and presented it to "Extreme Makeover" representatives. Cheryl Ciavarella, the author, was filmed giving it to one of the stars, who read it on camera.
Mother's Day 2005, Jackie's going up to bed, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," swirling through her head.
She smiles at him as she goes up, a twinkle in her eye,
"I'll do what it takes to be on the show," she is heard to cry.
Late that night, without warning, she takes her last breath.
At 28, and in good health, she could not cheat death.
Zoey, six; Harley, three; and baby Presley, too,
Jeff wanted a better life for them, what was he to do?
This family's loss was also felt by co-workers and friends,
who tried to help as best they could, on them he could depend.
When they learned of Jackie's dream, nominations came
from students, friends and co-workers, far too many to name.
On October twelfth, sitting at home, his family gathered around,
he heard a familiar voice outside, a very booming sound.
"Good morning Novak Family," Ty is heard to shout.
Jeff grabbed his girls, ran out the door, what was this all about?
Ty was there, along with his crew, and three members of his team,
who wanted to tear down his Arlene home to fulfill his late wife's dream.
Constance Ramos, Paige Hemmis and also Paul DiMeo,
joined Ty for their first Makeover in this town of Boardman, Ohio.
The family went to Daytona Beach, for a much needed vacation,
from which they'll return in a week, amid much celebration.
Prodigal Media spread the news throughout the Mahoning Valley.
Camera Crews and people came, around the family they did rally.
The workers gave their all with excellence and pride,
a feeling that started in the town of Boardman, and extended county wide.
TC Quality Homes, along with many volunteers,
worked nonstop around the clock while the fans around gave cheers.
As you drive by and view this home, remember all the love,
as you think of a girl with an incredible dream who's watching from above.
So much thanks to ABC and Sears and to all of you,
who posthumously, and with much love, made Jackie's dream come true.
