YOUNGSTOWN -- The Football Alumni Club will present a player of the game award for Saturday's homecoming game.
The selection committee will consist of members of the Football Alumni Club.
The player will receive a plaque and will be added to the Honor Roll in the Mosure Hall of Gridiron Glory in Stambaugh Stadium.
The award winner of the will be announced at the Penguin Club's weekly press conference Tuesday.
Men's golf
AUBURN, Ind. -- Freshman Ryan Stocke was the top finisher for YSU, which tied for sixth place at the IPFW Fall Classic.
Stocke tied for seventh with a three-round score of 214 (68-71-75).
YSU tied Dayton for sixth place with an 882 (291-289-302).
Loyola won the event in a playoff over Oakland (Mich.) after both finished at 848.
Also for YSU, Jim Powers tied for 18th (70-71-77--218), Ryan McGraw was 36th (81-71-73--225), Nate Komsa was 39th (74-76-79--229) and Josh Zarlenga was 43rd (79-76-77--232).
Women's golf
AUBURN, Ind. -- YSU finished third out of nine teams at the IPFW Fall Classic,
Adrianna DiLonardo tied for third place with a three-round total of 229 (76-77-76).
Brittany Jones finished 10th (79-81-75--235), sophomore Felicia Ciotola was 13th (79-80-78--237), Bonnie Sherman was 28th (82-85-85--252) and Mollie Boney was 33rd (85-89-82--256).
The Penguins had a team score of 950 (316-323-311).
Butler won with 921 and Oakland (Mich.) was second with a 937.
Swimming/diving
BOWLING GREEN -- Two relay teams finished fourth for and individuals posted solid leadoff times in the Tom Stubbs Relay.
The 400-yard freestyle relay of Brittany Senn, Becky Bertuzzi, Erin-Michelle Gordon and Jessica Front placed fourth (3 minutes, 43.90 seconds) and the 500 free replay was fourth (4:24.17).
Bertuzzi, Senn, Front and Olivia Arnold finished in 8:12.90 in the 800 free relay.
Arnold, Julia Darling, Amanda Ladd and Erin Sayre clocked in at 4:25.00 in the 400 medley relay, and Senn, Bertuzzi, Gordon and Front posted a 3:43.90 in the 400 free relay.

PAC honors
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Westminster's Sean Buggey and Mallory Bugel, and Bethany's David Calandra were named players of the week by the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
Buggey, a senior running back, was named offensive player of the week for football.
He rushed for 216 yards and two touchdowns in the Titans' 34-13 win at Bethany.
Bugel was named for women's soccer. She scored five goals in two conference games.
Calandra was named for men's soccer. Calandra recorded a hat trick in Bethany's 3-2 victory at Westminster.
Amateur boxing
WEIRTON, W. Va. -- A 15-bout amateur boxing card will be held at the Serbian American Cultural Center Thursday night.
Fighters from the Southside Boxing Club, the Buckeye Elks, Warren Boxing Club and Downtown Boxing Club will be in action.
Heavyweight Josh Harris and and middleweight Kiez Smith (3-1) will represent the Buckeye Elks.
The Southside Boxing Club will be represented by 168-pounder Rocky Nolfi and Junior Olympian Salinas brothers.
Ricky Wanamaker, a 119-pounder, and Tommy Joseph, a 154-pounder, will represent the Downtown Boxing Club.
The Vann brothers, also Junior Olympians will represent the Warren Boxing Club.
All tickets are $10 with the first fight scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

James close to return
CLEVELAND -- LeBron James was upgraded to questionable on Cleveland's injury report, and the Cavaliers forward said he'll try to play in today's exhibition game against the Grizzlies.
James was hospitalized for two days last week with pleurisy, a virus that caused severe pain in his chest. He practiced for the second straight day Tuesday and said he's feeling well enough that he'll try to play in the Cavs' fifth preseason game.
The Cavs have four more exhibition games before they open the season on Nov. 2 against New Orleans.
Hal Lebovitz, sports columnist, dies at 89
CLEVELAND -- Hal Lebovitz, a longtime sports writer and award-winning columnist inducted into Baseball's Hall of Fame, died Tuesday of cancer. He was 89.
Lebovitz was a fixture on Cleveland's sports scene for more than 60 years. Since 1984, he was the featured sports columnist for The Willoughby News-Herald and The (Lorain) Morning Journal. Lebovitz wrote the popular "Ask Hal" column in which he answered reader's questions about sports rules.
