PREP SOCCER Champion pulls past Liberty 2-0



Hannah Snyder scored twice as Ursuline upended Maplewood 3-1.
CHAMPION -- After battling to a scoreless draw at the half, third-seeded Champion (7-7-3) found the range twice in the last 40 minutes, defeating Liberty 2-0 in a girls Division II soccer game Tuesday.
Brittany Skeels scored off an assist from Gina Calderone to make it 1-0.
Then, Brittany Bako scored with Alyssa Boggess registering the assist.
Badger will play at Champion Saturday at 5 p.m.
Badger 7, Newton Falls 2
KINSMAN -- Hannah Miller scored three goals and had two assists for Badger.
Shannon Sudon added two goals for the Braves (10-7). Jenna Miller and Taylor Phillips had a goal apiece. Cayla Arnold had two assists, Sarah Dunfee and Phillips had an assists.
Lauren Mauric and Kristi Collins each scored a goal for Newton Falls (8-7-2). Jenna Cariglio had an assist.
Amanda Pagano and Allison Snyder combined for eight saves for the Tigers. Katy Dborak had nine saves for the Braves.
Ursuline 3, Maplewood 1
YOUNGSTOWN -- Hannah Snyder scored two goals and Kaelyn Tondo-Stelle scored one for the Irish (10-4-3) in the Div. II sectional tournament match.
Dana Hinebaugh, Snyder and Tondo-Steele had an assist apiece. Jolanta Carkido, goalkeeper, had 12 saves.
Warren JFK 2, Conneaut 0
CONNEAUT -- Jacquie Mohney scored in the first half and Lexie Polivka scored after the break for the Eagles (8-7-2). JFK goalie Jenna Gilmore had nine saves.
Conneaut is 12-4-1.

YOUNGSTOWN -- Kara Cooper scored four goals for the Eagles (4-9-1).
Dami Oshonowo also scored for the Eagles, who will play top-seeded Mooney at Valley Sports Saturday at 2 p.m.
Jefferson (2-7-1) fell behind 4-0 at the half and never recovered.
Ursuline 5, Kennedy Catholic 1
In a regular season game on Saturday, Ursuline defeated Kennedy Catholic behind Geralyn Tondo-Steele, who scored two goals.
Katelyn Tondo-Steele added a goal and an assist, while Dana Hinebaugh and Hannah Snyder also scored goals. Liz Engler, Kaila Buckley, Elizabeth Emanuel, Dana Miles and Mandie Laneve had assists.
Jolanta Carkido had six saves in goals for the Irish (9-4-3).
Leanne Magrestro scored the lone goal for Kennedy Catholic (1-10). Kristen Joseph had 13 saves for the Golden Eagles.
