Heritage weekend
CANFIELD -- Canfield Christian Church, 123 S. Broad St., will observe heritage weekend Oct. 22-23. Activities include a trip to Bethany, W.Va., the home of Alexander Campbell. He was instrumental in the Restoration Movement of which the Disciples of Christ (Christian churches) are a part. Worship services are planned at 10:45 a.m. Oct. 23 followed by a covered dish dinner. There will be a service at 2 p.m. with music, drama and other activities.
Note Hymn Fest
YOUNGSTOWN -- The music advisory committee of Third Baptist Church, 1177 Park Hill Drive, will hold a Hymn Fest as part of the celebration for the 131st anniversary of the church. The event will be at 4 p.m. Oct. 23 in the church sanctuary.
The committee invites ministers, musicians, vocalists and choir members to participate.
Young adult ministry
CANFIELD -- The young adult ministry of Old North Church Worship Center, Herbert Road, will sponsor a free concert with Ryan Wilkins of Cleveland at 7 p.m. Oct. 29. Wilkins is a singer, songwriter and worship leader at Cleveland SevenOSseven, a fellowship for young adults. An offering will be taken.
Testimony night
CANFIELD -- Carol Delflore will be guest speaker during testimony night planned from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 25 at Lifecare Ministry Center, Lucille Orr Ministries Inc., 5357 Raccoon Road.
Musical ministry
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Higher Ground, recording artists from Nashville, will be ministering in concert at 6 p.m. Oct. 23 and 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at Calvary Temple Worship Center, Route 422 1465 W. Sampson St. Extension.
Spiritual journey event
COLUMBIANA -- The Way Station, 769 Springfield Road, will present speaker Sandra Joseph, author of "Scrapbooking Your Spiritual Journey," during a program Oct. 29 at the Upper Room Fellowship, 500 Sponseller Road. The morning session from 9 to 11:30 a.m. will be a workshop for women's ministry directors who are interested in using scrapbooking as an outreach tool in their churches. The afternoon session from noon to 3 p.m. will feature Joseph and a "make-it, take-it" project. To register call the Way Station at (330) 482-5072.
Fall renewal planned
AUSTINTOWN -- Austintown Baptist Church, 1180 S. Raccoon Road, will hold a fall renewal at 7 p.m. Thursday through Oct. 22 with music and children's activities. The observance will continue at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 23 with the Rev. Tod Hill of Grace Baptist Church, Parkersburg, W.Va. Child care will be provided. Missionary Day service
YOUNGSTOWN -- Church of Hope Spiritual will hold a Missionary Day service at noon Monday with guest speaker evangelist Anne Hardin of Heavenly Place Church of God in Christ. Refreshments will be served.
Anniversary event
NILES -- Praise Cathedral Church of God, 608 Iowa Ave., will hold its 10th anniversary celebration from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 23 with fellowship, food, music and games.
80th anniversary
STRUTHERS -- Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 67 McClure St., will observe its 80th anniversary at a banquet Friday at the Brentford House, Hubbard. For tickets call (330) 743-8315. A concert also is planned at 5 p.m. today at the church.
Youth revival
YOUNGSTOWN -- The board of Christian education at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, 1210 Himrod Ave., will sponsor a youth revival at 6:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. The Rev. Derrick Anderson of Jerusalem Baptist Church, the Rev. C.M. Jenkins of Greater Friendship Baptist Church and the Rev. Robin Woodberry of New Bethel Baptist Church will participate. There will be music and mimes.
Series continues
COLUMBIANA -- "God's Grace is Greater" will be the topic of David Kohout of Boardman when he speaks at 6 p.m. Sunday at Zion Hill Church of the Brethren, 14550 New Buffalo Road. He is affiliated with Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Jewish-Christian dialogue
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Jewish-Christian Dialogue-North will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 26 at Temple El Emeth, 3970 Logan Way. The topic will be "Christianity in Jewish Terms," and participants will use the book by the same title. Scripture and worship will be explored. The schedule also will be decided.
Guest speaker
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Mary Alice Isleib, executive director of Christian Outreach International, will speak at three sessions at Living Word Christian Center, 21 S. Maysville Road. After the service at 7 p.m. Friday, there will be a pastors gathering on how to start an intercessory prayer group. Isleib will address services at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Nursery and toddler care will be provided. She is the author of "Effective Fervent Prayer" and "Healing Toxic Emotions."
Message and meditation
CANFIELD -- Youngstown Spiritual Society will hold a message and meditation service from 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the Ursuline Center, 4300 Shields Road. Vince Lisi will present "God Realization: Fresh and New Each Day" followed by meditation and prayer.
Ministries convocation
COLUMBUS -- The 2006 Ohio Ministries Convocation is planned Jan. 23-24 with the theme, "Decoding the Culture," at the University Plaza Hotel. More than 300 pastors, educators, seminarians and retirees are expected to attend. Keynote speakers will be Barbara Bradley Hagerty, religion correspondent for National Public Radio, and the Rev.
