Fire captain calls fire in plaza suspicious

AUSTINTOWN -- A fire in a shopping plaza may have been deliberately set, said township fire Capt. Andy Frost.
The blaze, which happened about 8:30 p.m. Monday, burned part of the back of a wooden building that houses four businesses at 1600 Raccoon Road.
Those businesses are Tattoos, the Check 'n Go, State Farm Insurance and Subway.
There were no injuries. Frost said the tattoo parlor sustained some damage.
He said the fire started behind the building in leaves accumulated there.
Frost said the department has not ruled that the fire is arson, but "it looks suspicious."
Someone at the tattoo parlor called the fire in after personnel noticed sparks in their phone system, Frost said.
