4 men arrested for kidnapping, threatening 6 others for money

The hostages were permitted to make calls to friends to raise the money.
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Four men are accused of kidnapping six men in a bizarre plot to recover some missing money.
Pennsylvania State Police said Gabriel S. Humphrey, 19, of Grove City, and Theodore G. Lang Holben, 19, of Slippery Rock, confronted an 18-year-old Harrisville man about some missing money.
Police said Holben pointed a loaded pistol at the man's chest and enticed him to call five other men, all ages 18 and 19, to meet at Humphrey's East Main Street Extension house at about 1:20 a.m. Monday.
Police said the victims were then confronted by Humphrey and Holben, along with two others, Robert S. Peavy, 25, and Gary M. Manning, 29, both of Grove City.
Police said over a period of time, the accused threatened to shoot and do bodily harm to the victims. The six hostages were permitted to make telephone calls to friends in an attempt to raise the money allegedly taken from Humphrey, police said.
The charges
All four were charged with kidnapping, criminal solicitation, terroristic threats, unlawful restraints, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
Holben was also charged with carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm by a minor -- Pennsylvania law requires handgun owners to be at least age 21 -- and possessing instruments of crime. Humphrey was also charged with possessing instruments of crime.
All four were arraigned and placed in Mercer County Jail. Peavy and Manning were lodged in lieu of $25,000 bond; Humphrey's bond was set at $40,000, and Holben's bond was set at $50,000.
