Flooding program is set
CANFIELD -- Dan Donaldson, district administrator for the Lake County Soil and Water Conservation District, and Jill Green, director of the Lake County Storm Water Management Department, will talk about how to form a storm-water utility at the AWARE meeting Wednesday. The meeting, which is also the holiday gathering for AWARE (Alliance for Watershed Action and Riparian Easements), is from 1 to 3 p.m. at McMahon Hall, Mill Creek MetroParks Farm.
The purpose of forming a storm water utility is to address storm-water management and flooding issues, said Marilyn Kenner, chief deputy engineer for the Mahoning County Engineer's Office and AWARE chairwoman. If preventive measures are not taken, the incidences of flooding will increase with the increasing development of land, Kenner said. Those who attend are asked to contribute refreshments.
