Quilt group fund-raiser to benefit organization
A highlight of a Christmas party to be held by That Quilt Guild I Belong To on Dec. 13 at Fair Park Community Center in Canfield will be the naming of the winner of an award-winning quilt made by the group.
Raffle tickets are still available and may be purchased at Quilter's Quarters, St. Elizabeth Cancer Center in Boardman and Marcy's Hallmark Store in Cortland. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to The Silver Lining Cancer Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing financial assistance to patients with malignant diseases.
The pattern for the quilt was taken from the book "Bed and Breakfast Quilts" by Mimi Dietrich, a noted quilt designer and teacher. Squares were pieced by guild members under the direction of Jeanne Neville and Nada Crago and the machine quilting was by Linda Cline.
TQGIBT was organized to preserve the tradition, culture and history of quilting and to promote good fellowship through sharing the art. Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at Fair Park.
