FREEPORT, Bahamas -- Cappie Pondexter scored 20 points and Rutgers began its season with a victory at the Junkanoo Jam. Rutgers (1-0), which won the Big East Conference regular season title last season, finally wore down North Florida in the final 5 minutes.

CANCUN, Mexico -- Ivory Latta scored 28 points to lead North Carolina at the Caribbean Classic. The Tar Heels (3-0) outrebounded the Sun Devils 38-28, led by sophomore Erlana Larkins with 12. Latta shot 7-for-14 from the field, including 4-for-6 on 3-pointers. The Tar Heels shot a season-high 48 percent, while the Sun Devils (3-1) shot 56 percent.

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands -- Natasha Williams scored 20 points to lead Minnesota in the Paradise Jam tournament. Jamie Broback added 17 points and April Calhoun had seven assists for the Golden Gophers (3-0), who face Virginia today in the championship game of the four-team round-robin tournament.

FREEPORT, Bahamas -- Freshman Erika Arriaran scored 14 points, including the basket that put Texas up for good, and fellow newcomer Ashley Lindsey had a critical block to help the Longhorns (2-1) beat South Carolina at the Junkanoo Jam.

FREEPORT, Bahamas -- Jessica Simmonds' free throw with 9.4 seconds left lifted George Washington (1-1) in the Junkanoo Jam.
