Forum to inform about agency's services



Researchers from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center will participate.
A forum highlighting the services of Burdman Group Inc. will take place Wednesday and Dec. 7 in Warren and Youngstown.
Forum participants will exchange information, ideas and opinions about Burdman's employment/job retention services; residential outpatient mental health services and domestic-violence programs.
Warren and Youngstown
The Friends and Family Forum will be in Warren at YWCA, 375 Park Ave., from 5 to 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.
In Youngstown, the forum will be at the main branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, 350 Wick Avenue, from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 7.
Current and potential service recipients and their family and friends are invited.
Participants will be informed how to access services and will be able to critique them. Types of new services needed will also be discussed.
Participants will have small group discussions to explore the issues, and a panel will give brief presentations. The presenters are:
*Researchers from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center will discuss discussing current research on serious mental illness.
*Local psychiatrists will speak on the latest medications for mental illness.
*Representatives from the local chapter of National Alliance on Mental Illness.
*People in recovery from serious mental illness.
*Burdman Group program directors will explain the services.
Tri-county reach
Burdman has programs in the Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana county area. Mahoning County has the Doris Burdman Home, Horizon House, Sojourner House Domestic Violence Program, outpatient services and Northeast Industries, which also offers services in Columbiana County.
In Trumbull County services are provided through Riverbend Center, Crossroads and Pine Industries.
