HERMITAGE, Pa. --The Democratic Women of Mercer County formed for their first meeting recently at the Hickory Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The organization is part of District 15 in the Pennsylvania Federation of Democratic Women, which includes Crawford, Erie, Mercer, Venango and Warren counties.
Those who attended formed two committees, nominating and bylaws, and made plans to hold regular meetings.
Sandra Laurie was named temporary chairwoman.
Bob Lark, chairman of the Mercer County Democratic Party, encouraged the women to be active in selecting candidates for office and working to elect those candidates.
He also encouraged the women to run for the offices of committeewomen in their respective areas.
