ASSOCIATIONS
XYoungstown Branch of the American Association of University Women will meet Dec. 3 at A La Cart Catering, 424 Lisbon Road, Canfield. Social time will begin at 11:45 a.m., and the luncheon will be served at 12:15 p.m. Sina Yoon, who taught opera in Korea, will sing arias from Italian operas. She will be accompanied by Jamie Lewis. XMahoning County Retired Teachers Association will meet Wednesday at Antone's Banquet Hall, 8578 Market St., Boardman. Social time will begin at 11 a.m. and lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m. A freewill offering will be collected for the Salvation Army. Unwrapped gifts for children will also be welcome. Scholarships will be awarded to four YSU students pursuing a teaching degree. Reservations are required. CLUBS
XPoland Women's Club will meet from noon to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at Caffe Capri in Boardman. Members are asked to take a $10 wrapped gift for an exchange. The theme will be a "Christmas Celebration." Hostesses will be Shirley Williams, Beth Lowe, Cathy Morrison, Lorraine Santora and Kathy Sovik
XSt. Rose Quilting Group will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the parish house.
X VFW District 8 Ladies Auxiliary will meet Dec. 4 at Mogadore VFW Post 8487, 385 Randolph Road, Mogadore. Scheduled is breakfast, 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.; registration, 7:30 to noon; and meeting, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Auxiliaries are asked to take new T-shirts, briefs, socks and toiletry items for local shelters. Judged at the meeting will be crochet/knit, quilted or appliqu & eacute;d lap robes, and items using Buddy Poppies for holiday decorations. There will also be a transmittal pick up.
XYoungstown American Hungarian Club, 2219 Donald Ave., will host its annual Christmas Party at 1 p.m., Dec. 4. A buffet will be served with members being asked to take a casserole or dessert appropriate for the number in their party. Reservations can be made with Dee Gran at (330) 799-7008 until Dec. 2. There will be a $5 fee for members and $7 for guests.
XYoungstown South Christian Women's Club will hold a "Tree Trimming" luncheon from noon to 2 p.m. Dec. 8 at Antone's Banquet Centre in Boardman. Bill Rotar will offer musical selections, and speaker will be Judy Conti Katsaras. Cost is $10, and reservations must be made by Thursday by calling (330) 757-1920 or (330) 707-1796. GUILDS
XMahoning Valley Machine Kniiters Guild will meet Monday at Denny's in Austintown. A social hour will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the meeting at 7. Anyone interested in machine knitting is welcome.
POLITICAL CLUBS
XWarren Republican Women's Club will have a holiday party at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Warren Women's Club, 708 N. Park, Warren. Guests are always welcome with reservations. For more information call (330) 759-1211.

XCourt Bishop James McFadden 1650, Catholic Daughters of the Americas will have a Christmas party at 1 p.m. Dec. 8 at Soffo's Cafe, 8586 South Ave. Bingo will be played. Used greeting cards will be collected, and members are asked to take items such as crayons, markers, coloring books, caps and mittens for Millcreek Children's Center. Officers will be hostesses. XSeton III will have a Christmas dinner Thursday at the Holiday Inn, Boardman. There will be a social hour and cocktails at 6:30 p.m. with dinner being served at 7 p.m. The social committee will show a film, "The Beginning's of Seton." Marian Baker will serve as chairwoman of the hostess committee.
XUnited Methodist Women of Richard Brown Memorial United Methodist Church executive committee will meet at 12:15 p.m. Thursday at the church with Ruby Kuhns presiding. Christmas lunch will be provided by Marilyn Blewitt and her committee. Eleanor Harris will ask the blessing, and a general meeting will follow. A Christmas program will be presented by Karen Myers. There will be no January meeting.
XYoungstown Council of Catholic Nurses will have a Christmas party at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Antone's Banquet Centre, 8578 Market St.
