Military band concert
WARREN -- The Warren Junior Military Band will perform in concert at Packard Music Hall at 7 p.m. Saturday. The concert is free.
Director Paul Brizzi will lead the band in a program of classical, contemporary and holiday music. Other conductors will include Lauren Munroe, Christopher Houser and Kevin Perry.

Auditions for 'Spitfire'
SALEM -- Salem Community Theatre will hold auditions for its winter musical, "The Spitfire Grill," at 7 p.m. today and Monday.
The play will open for a two-week run on Jan. 20.
Casting requirements call for three men, ages 18 and up; two young women, ages 18 and up; and two mature women, between 45 and 65. Those planning to audition should bring sheet music and prepared to sing a short musical selection and read from the script
Pure Gold at event
NEW CASTLE -- Pure Gold, a doo-wop vocal group that has appeared on several PBS television productions, will perform at the 21st annual Swing Lobby Reunion.
The bring-your-own-bottle event will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at St. John's Hall in New Castle.

There will be a free food buffet, and DJ Jeff Allen will hold a jitterbug dance contest.
Opera singer at SRU
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Internationally acclaimed opera singer Marianne Cornetti, a Butler County, Pa., native, returns to Slippery Rock University Dec. 10 to present a scholarship benefit concert. Earlier this year she helped create a scholarship in her name to support music education students.
Various ticket options are available from $25 to $100. A $100 ticket includes premier seating, a CD of Cornetti's performance last year at SRU, and an invitation to an after-concert reception. The performance begins at 8 p.m. in Swope Recital Hall. Call (724) 738-2645 for tickets.
Couple's song on CD
WARREN -- A song, "Mama I Still Cry," written by a Warren couple, Nelson and Carrie Blakely of 2255 Williamsburg St. N.W., is featured on the album, "Hands Across America," by country recording artist Phil Gentile.
The recording was released by New World Publishing and Tower Records. It is available online at CDBaby.com, wwwNewWorldpub.com or www.towerrecords and at Borders in Niles and RBG Music in Warren.
Chorus to perform
ALLIANCE -- Mount Union College will present the Women's Chorus in concert at 8 p.m. Monday in Presser Recital Hall.
The concert will be directed by John M. Roberts, lecturer of music, with assistance by accompanist Janelle Phinney, lecturer of music. The concert will also feature guest pianist Dr. Maria Balacon, assistant professor of music.
The concert will include a variety of seasonal selections as well as classics from musicals such as "The Phantom of the Opera," "Guys and Dolls" and "Wicked." It is free and open to the public. For more information, call the department of music at (330) 823-2180.
Benefit performance
AUSTINTOWN -- The Austintown Fitch High School Jazz Ensemble and Youngstown Area Community Concert Band will perform their annual benefit concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 1.
Proceeds from this year's concert will go to the Chelsie Huntington account at key Bank. Chelsie is a sophomore at Fitch High who suffered severe burns in an accident during the summer. The money will help the family deal with their mounting medical expenses.
Admission for the show, which will be in the Fitch High auditorium, will be $5. The bands will play Christmas and holiday music.
Cultural Alliance to meet
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Ohio Cultural Alliance will meet at 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at Youngstown Playhouse, off Glenwood Avenue. The topic will be "Enriching Elements of Life: Drama/Theater."
The speaker will be Dr. George McCloud, dean of the School of Fine and Performing Arts and temporarily special assistant to the president, at Youngstown State University.
The meal will be prepared by Linda Livosky Catering. The cost is $11 for each paid member and $16 for each non-member. Mail a check, payable to Ohio Cultural Alliance, to the alliance at P.O. Box 561, Canfield, Ohio 44406-0561. Reservations must be received no later than Nov. 30.
