Thanksgiving service
GIRARD -- An ecumenical community Thanksgiving service is planned at 7 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church, 140 E. Broadway. Speaker will be Beth Ferne-Johnson, interim pastor of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Girard. The community church choir will present "Autumn Carol." Refreshments will follow.
Hanging of the greens
WARREN -- Central Christian Church, 2051 E. Market St., will have a hanging of the greens service at 10 a.m. Nov. 27. A free organ concert, "Sounds of Christmas," featuring Ray Ocock, will be at 6 p.m.
Speaker at Living Word
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The Rev. Gary Brooks will speak at services at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday at Living Word Church, 1109 E. State St. He is an ordained minister with Christian International Ministries and founder of In His Image Ministries in North Carolina.
Candelight service
YOUNGSTOWN -- A candlelight service of Advent lessons and carols will be at 5 p.m. Nov. 27 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave. The service will progress through the prophecies of Isaiah to the Gospel narratives of the birth of Christ. The congregation will participate by singing Advent carols.
Message and meditation
CANFIELD -- Youngstown Spiritual Society will meet for its message and meditation service from 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the Ursuline Center, 4300 Shields Road. Vince Lisi will present "How to Live the Enlightened Life in an Ego-Driven World -- Part I." Meditation and shared prayer will follow.
Annual convocation
FARRELL, Pa. -- "Redigging the Foundation" is the theme for the 26th annual convocation under way at New and Living Way, Apostolic Ministries Inc., 927 Lee Ave. Today's schedule includes workshops from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., lunch, another workshop and choir rehearsal and talk by Pastor E. Ingram of New and Living Way in Barberton at 7:30 p.m. Sunday's events will be an address at 9 a.m. with Bishop Alvin J. McCoy and service at 11:30 withPastor Martha Sanders and Sally Saunders, co-pastor.
Ministry to host visitors
LIBERTY -- The Word and Music Ministry, a new outreach mission, will host two visiting groups at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Liberty Presbyterian Church, Church Hill-Hubbard Road. Performing will be Shenango Praise Team, a dozen singer and musicians from eight churches in the Shenango Valley, and Jes-us-Adults Dancers and Jes-us II Kids, a 15-member dance and musical troupe.
The founding members, Pastor Duane Turnage and his wife, Dionne, Vern and Kim Worna, Jim and Debbie Hunter and Ed and Joanne Maurer, have developed a ministry focusing on the basic beliefs in the teachings of Jesus and incorporating music at all levels.
Bilingual baptism service
YOUNGSTOWN -- A bilingual baptism service is planned at 9:45 a.m. Sunday at Metro Assembly, 2530 South Ave. Spanish Evangelical Church and Metro Assembly are holding the joint service. There will be no afternoon service.

YOUNGSTOWN -- Thanksgiving services are planned at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Church, 626 Wick Ave., and Russian Orthodox Nativity of Christ Church, 727 Miller Ave.
Women in White Day
NILES -- The sixth annual Women in White Day is planned at 4 p.m. Sunday at Alpha and Omega Ministries, 305 Robins Ave. The theme is "Women of God Birthed for a Purpose." Elder and author Sonya Theodore of Hermitage, Pa., will speak.
