MAC Chippewas trip Ball in OT, 31-24

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Kent Smith hit Justin Harper for a 7-yard touchdown pass in overtime to lift Central Michigan over Ball State 31-24 on Saturday.
Ryan Strehl blocked a punt and returned it 32 yards for a touchdown to put Central Michigan up 24-21 with 1:51 remaining in the game.
The Cardinals (4-6, 4-3) got the ball to the Chippewas' 13 when quarterback Joey Lynch completed a pass to Dan Dunford, setting up Brian Jackson's game-tying 30-yard field goal with 10 seconds left in regulation.
Smith finished with 327 yards, three touchdowns and completed 23 of his 42 passes. In the last three weeks, Smith has thrown for 1,169 yards, eight touchdowns and completed 62.5 percent of his passes.
Ball State was led by quarterback Joey Lynch, who threw for 281 yards and one touchdown. Louis Johnson had five catches for 103 yards.
E. Michigan 38, Buffalo 14
AMHERST, N.Y. -- Eric Deslauriers caught two touchdown passes from Matt Bohnet.
Deslauriers, a Quebec native, broke the career record for touchdown receptions at Eastern Michigan (4-7, 3-5 MAC) with 22. He caught 10 passes Saturday for 105 yards.
Anthony Sherrell added two touchdowns and rushed for 112 yards on 15 carries. Bohnet was 10-for-17 for 99 yards before leaving in the third quarter with an injury. Tyler Jones threw for another 48 yards, completing 5 of 11 while rushing for 54 yards.
