Firefighter teaches CPR
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mike Kerr, a registered paramedic, firefighter and instructor for St. Elizabeth's Regional Learning Center for Cardiac Life Support, will teach the following classes.
Heartsaver CPR: Dec. 6 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hubbard Library. The program will cover CPR for adults, children, and infants. It includes information on poison prevention, rescue breathing, obstructed airway and child issues. An information booklet and poison stickers will be available to participants. The program is open to the public for a non-refundable fee of $35. This class is for laypersons and space is limited. To register, call (330) 480-3045.
Heartsaver First Aid Course: Dec. 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the St. Elizabeth Boardman Campus, Azalea Room C. The first aid class covers topics such as controlling bleeding, caring for burns, and how to respond to allergic reactions, seizures, amputations, hot and cold emergencies, shock, poisonings, insect bites, and bee stings. Each participant will receive a first aid book and a two- year certification card. The program is open to the public and the fee is a non-refundable $35. To register, call (330) 480-3045.

HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Two free programs are offered at the Womancare Center of UPMC Horizon, 875 N. Hermitage Road (state Route 18).
Dr. Iris Brossard, a neurologist, will speak on "Women and Migraines" from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 1.
Dr. Joseph Meyn, obstetrics/gynecology, will talk present a "Surgical Update for Female Bladder Dysfunction" from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 8.

Symposium offered
CLEVELAND -- The Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine's Case Health Policy Forum is offering a free three-day symposium Nov. 30-Dec. 2 at the Wolstein Research Building, 2103 Cornell Road, on the Case campus.
The keynote address by Sir Michael Marmot, Ph.D., is at 6 p.m. on Dec. 1. Marmot, director of the International Institute for Society and Health and a professor of epidemiology and public health at the University College of London, will speak on "Understanding Inequalities in Health."

Baby-sitter training
BOARDMAN -- The American Red Cross will offer a baby-sitting class from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Parker Center in Boardman Park. The class is open to ages 11-15 who want a Red CRoss certificate.
