Here are other developments related to the war in Iraq:
The Army has suspended plans to expand an unwieldy, 16-month-old program to call up inactive soldiers for military duty, after thousands have requested delays or exemptions or failed to show up.
About 350 Marines at Twentynine Palms in California and at Camp Pendleton are being trained as advisers to the Iraqi army, in hopes that a strategy honed during Vietnam can be used to improve Iraq's military and hasten the withdrawal of U.S. personnel.
Former President Clinton said Friday that the debate between Republicans and Democrats about the Iraq war should go on -- without personal attacks. He was referring to the explosion of angry words and personal insults on the House floor Friday, when the chamber's newest member suggested that Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., a decorated war veteran, was a coward for calling for an immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops. As Democrats physically restrained one colleague, who appeared he might lose control of himself as he rushed across the aisle to confront Republicans with a jabbing finger, they accused Republicans of playing political games with the war. The White House fired off a statement comparing the combat-decorated Vietnam veteran to war critic-movie producer Michael Moore.
