"I am not a really good artist, but I try to draw a few times a year. When I first started out, I was very self-conscious about it. Anything I drew immediately went into a small hiding place by my computer or my school binder behind the corrected math homework. My parents would often try to look at what I was drawing (mainly girls in skimpy clothing) and sneak into my room to see it. Those were probably some of the most embarrassing moments of invasion of privacy I had with my parents."

"My mom started hearing about Myspace.com, so she forbid my 12-year-old brother from having one. She also looked at my Myspace to check if there was anything bad on it."

"My parents have recently set up spyware on my sister's and my AOL accounts. I wasn't even doing anything. I think they just read an article on teens and the Internet, and freaked out. They now get a little report on how many IMs we send, who we send them to, and all of the sites we visit and e-mails we get. Seems a little harsh to me."

"I have to glance behind my back once in a while whenever I IM at home. My mom has a knack for sneaking up behind me and reading some of my personal conversations. I really get annoyed by it!"
-- Joseph Natividad, St. Mary's College High School, Berkeley, Calif.
