What: Division III first round playoffWhere: Mount Union Stadium, AllianceWhen: NoonRecords: Both teams are 9-1.Scouting report: This is the first-ever meeting between Mount Union and Mount St. Joseph, from Cincinnati. The Purple Raiders advanced to the playoffs by winning their 14th consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference championship. Mount Union senior CB Ross Watson (Austintown Fitch) has nine interceptions for this season and needs one more to tie the school record of 10 shared by Perry Bourn (1968) and Bruce Ensminger (1951). Mount St. Joseph earned its playoff spot by capturing its second consecutive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference title. Mount Union has won seven national championships. The Purple Raiders are making their 15th playoff appearance in the last 16 years, compiling an all-division NCAA-best record of 196-10-1 (.949) since 1990. Mount Union coach Larry Kehres is 226-20-3 (.913) in his 20th season. Mount Union St. Joseph coach Rod Huber is 32-29 (.525) in his sixth season. The winner of this game will play either Augustana (Ill.) (9-1) or Lakeland (Wis.) What: Division III first round playoffWhere: Alumni Stadium, Greenville, Pa.When: NoonRecords: Thiel 10-0, Johns Hopkins 8-2Scouting report: Thiel clinched its first playoff berth by rallying from a two-TD deficit in the fourth quarter to outlast Carnegie Mellon in three overtimes last Saturday, 50-48, for its third overtime win of the season. The Tomcats also set a school record for most wins in one season with 10 (the previous record was seven) and won the PAC title (6-0) for the first time since 1972. Senior QB Darrell Satterfield completed a school-record 29 of a record-tying 52 passes for 306 yards and six TDs against Carnegie Mellon, and was named the PAC offensive player of the week. Senior WR Brandon Chambers caught 15 passes for 177 yards and four TDs, setting single-game school records for both the receptions and TDs. Chambers also set the school career record for TD receptions with 29, surpassing John Gibson (Boardman) who had 25 from 1967-69. Chambers already has set eight school records, two of them this season, and also is nearing the single-season receiving yards record with 1,112, needing only 36 more to exceed Jim Kick (1,147 in 1981). So far this year, Chambers has 73 receptions for 1,112 yards and 13 TDs. Junior OLB Chris Hlinka (Chaney) and MLB Jeff Wagner led Thiel's defense against Carnegie Mellon with 10 tackles each, while sophomore DE Chris Lorber had eight tackles, one tackle for loss and a forced fumble. Johns Hopkins also is in the playoffs for the first time. The Blue Jays won their first outright Centennial Conference championship with a 5-1 record by beating McDaniel last Saturday. Johns Hopkins won its fourth straight Centennial title, having shared honors the previous three seasons. Senior safety Jim Sanders (South Range) was selected to the second team on the All-Centennial Conference team. Sanders became a starter this season after being a key reserve and special teams standout during his first three seasons. He ranks No. 3 on the team in tackles with 56 and has two tackles for losses, five pass breakups, one interception and one forced fumble. Sanders came up with a career-best 10 tackles in the Blue Jays' 49-20 loss to Hampden-Sydney Nov. 5. His previous career-high was seven tackles which he registered in three games. He has 115 tackles for his career. Frank Colaprete (Mooney High and John Carroll University) is in his fifth season as defensive coordinator for Johns Hopkins.

GENEVA vs. GEORGETOWN (KY.)
What: NAIA first round playoffWhere: Rawlings Stadium, Georgetown, Ky.When: 1:30 p.m.Records: Geneva 8-3, Georgetown 8-2Scouting report: Geneva has qualified for the NAIA playoffs for the first time in eight years. The Golden Tornadoes rallied in mid-season and have won five straight games, including last Saturday's 21-20 win over Urbana. Keying Geneva's resurgence is junior WR Bam Harmon, who has scored 10 TDs over the five-game winning streak, including two scores by punt and kickoff returns. Harmon caught the game-winning pass from QB Justin Sciarro, a 77-yard connection, with a little over two minutes remaining to give Geneva the win over Urbana. Geneva finished 5-2 in the MSFA Mideast. Sciarro has completed 144-of-294 passes for 1,924 yards and 19 TDs with 15 interceptions. His favorite targets are Michael Lehman with 38 catches for 541 yards and seven TDs and Harmon with 23 receptions for 445 yards and nine TDs, including eight in the last five weeks.
