Group announces holiday events
SALEM -- The Salem Retail and Business Association has announced the "Home for the Holidays" Christmas open house Friday and Saturday and the "Welcome Santa to Salem" parade Dec. 2.
There will be carriage rides downtown from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. On Saturday, there will be wagon rides and a petting zoo downtown.
The Quakertown Trolley will be in operation from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. It will make a half-hour run to different locations. Tickets are $5 per person or $10 for a family of four.
The Salem Branch of the Butler Institute will have a "Create a Work of Art Program" and Daydreamer's Art Studio will have a craft project. A Christmas story for children will be read at the Storybook Museum. The Charles Burchfield Museum and the Victorian Christmas at the Salem Historical Society will be open. The Quota Club's holiday craft show will be at Timblerlanes.
The parade will begin at 6 p.m. Dec. 2 at the high school. It will go south on North Lincoln Avenue, then west on East State Street to Ellsworth Avenue.
