Officials refer bids for bridge repairs
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Lawrence County commissioners have referred bids for repair work on the Hilltown Bridge in Mahoning Township to the county engineer, Frank B. Taylor Engineering, for review.
Bids were opened at Tuesday's regular meeting from Shingledecker Welding, New Castle, $8,119; Clearwater Construction, Mercer, $9,110; and Delta Constructors, Hermitage, $24,420.
In other matters, commissioners agreed to allow the county's public safety department to use the Lawrence County Fairgrounds as a mass care center for animals during severe storms, flooding and other disasters.
Also, the panel announced there will be no regular meeting Nov. 22 because of a county commissioners conference that day. There will be no caucus Nov. 22 because of Thanksgiving. The commissioners' next regular meeting will be Nov. 29.
