Campbell man charged in pharmacy robbery

LIBERTY -- A 34-year-old Campbell man is charged in the armed robbery of the Rite Aid Pharmacy at Belmont Avenue and Gypsy Lane.
Michael Gura of Jackson Street was arraigned Tuesday afternoon before Magistrate Judge Mark S. Finamore of Girard Municipal Court on charges of aggravated robbery and felonious assault.
He was ordered held on $75,000 bond, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. next Wednesday.
Township police said Gura entered the store at 9:40 p.m. Monday and asked the pharmacist to check out some items. He then pulled a knife and demanded OxyContin, a painkiller, police said. A struggle followed between the two, and the pharmacist was cut on the hand.
Police said Gura fled the store, got into a car and fled along Gypsy Lane to state Route 711 before crashing on Interstate 680 in Youngstown.
Witnesses to the robbery were able to identify Gura at the scene of the crash, police said. Youngstown police reported a knife was found near Gura's car, which had spun out of control.
