WESTERN PA. 3 men get time for sex crimes



Sentences were handed down in a Mercer County court.
MERCER, Pa. -- Three men were sentenced Wednesday in Mercer County Common Pleas Court for sex crimes.
Judge Christopher St. John sentenced Kenneth Shultz, 57, of South Oakland Avenue, Sharon, to five to 10 years in prison for felony rape. According to court documents, on July 22, Shultz forced a woman to perform a sex act on him at his home.
Thomas Price, 52, address given as the Mercer County Jail, was sentenced to 41/2 to nine years in prison for three counts of felony statutory sexual assault for sex offenses against three children. Between Dec. 25, 2003 and Jan. 30, 2004, he engaged in sex acts by forcible compulsion or threat with a 13-year-old girl, a 10-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, all at a Perry Highway, Springfield Township address, court documents state.
And Harry McKelvey, 37, of North Walnut Street, Sharpsville, was placed on four years probation and ordered to perform 100 hours community service, for felony statutory sexual assault. Documents state that on June 13, he engaged in sexual intercourse with a 12-year old girl at his home. He also bought beer for the victim.

Several others were also sentenced.
U Connie Couturiaux, age unavailable, of Ulp Street, Masury, Ohio, was placed on three years probation for retail theft for stealing $75 worth of groceries from Shop N Save, 2199 E. State St., Hermitage on Nov. 22. The offense is a felony because it is the third or subsequent offense.
U Nathan Patel, 34, of Wilson Road, Hermitage, was placed on two years probation and ordered to perform 50 hours community service for simple assault, a misdemeanor. Documents state that in February, 2004, he attempted to hug, kiss and fondle a woman, pulling her onto his lap and refusing to let her go while at the Comfort Inn, 3099 Wilson Road, Shenango Township.
U Johnny Pearson, 27, of Zahniser Road, Mercer, was sentenced to two years' probation for simple assault, criminal conspiracy and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors. On Aug. 15, according to court documents, he struck, hit and kicked another man several times, causing a concussion and bleeding. The assault took place at Jacks R Wild, 7253 W. Market St., Jefferson Township.
U Matthew Shealy, 24, also of Zahniser Road, Mercer, was sentenced in the same incident to 45 days to one year in jail for simple assault, and two years' probation for criminal conspiracy and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors.
U Dana Roye, 27, of the Mercer County Jail, was sentenced to 18 to 36 months in prison for possession with intent to deliver, a felony. He was declared boot camp eligible. According to documents, on July 3 he possessed 7.8 grams crack cocaine at R & amp;R Lounge, 715 Idaho St., Farrell.
U Alan Summerville, 41, address given as Lawrence County Jail, was sentenced to two to four years in prison for felony robbery. According to court documents, on Oct. 4, 2003, he stole 80 OxyContin pills from Rite Aid, 275 Main St., Greenville, threatening a store employee with his hand in his pocket as if he had a gun.
U Daniel Taafe, 27, of Warren-Sharon Road, Masury, was sentenced to four to 111/2 months in jail for misdemeanor forgery. He was also sentenced to three years' probation and ordered to make restitution for felony burglary. According to court documents, Taafe used a stolen credit card to charge $549 worth of merchandise at Lowe's, 3000 Glimcher Blvd., Hermitage, on July 25. He also illegally entered the Side Pocket Cafe, 109 Silver St., Sharon, on Aug. 23 and stole a bucket containing $410 in coin.
