MINNEAPOLIS -- Rene Haynes saved top-seeded Michigan State from an embarrassingly early exit. Haynes came out of a wild scramble with the ball and made a layup with 2.9 seconds remaining in a second-round game. The Spartans, 30-3 after their 14th straight victory, will face the Kansas State-Vanderbilt winner Sunday in the semifinals of the Kansas City Regional. Lindsay Bowen led Michigan State with 19 points, including four 3-pointers in the second half. Her final 3 gave the Spartans a 59-56 lead with 37.3 seconds to play, but Southern California (20-11) tied it on Brynn Cameron's 3 with 21.7 seconds to go. The Spartans then got the ball inside, the shot was blocked and players dove all over the floor trying to get the ball. Haynes, a 5-foot-10 sophomore, finally came up with it to the left of the lane, took a step and made the basket. Camille LeNoir led Southern California with a career-high 18 points.
Georgia 70, Texas 68
DALLAS -- Tasha Humphrey scored 26 points and Cori Chambers had 15 to lead sixth-seeded Georgia to its second victory of the season over third-seeded Texas. Georgia (24-9) advanced to the round of 16 for the third straight year and the 15th time in 21 appearances. The Bulldogs will face the winner of tonight's Duke-Boston College game on Saturday in the Chattanooga Regional semifinals. Texas' Heather Schreiber tried to win the game with a 3-pointer at the buzzer but the shot hit the corner of rim. The Longhorns' Tiffany Jackson tied her career high with 30 points, but her tying attempt with 12 seconds remaining was blocked. Texas finished the season 22-9.
Arizona St. 70, Notre Dame 61
FRESNO, Calif. -- Kylan Loney scored eight points in the final 1:29 and finished with 20 to help fifth-seeded Arizona State shock fourth-seeded Notre Dame. Aubree Johnson had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Sun Devils (24-9), who will return home to Tempe for the regional finals to face the winner of tonight's North Carolina-George Washington game. Jacqueline Batteast had 20 points and eight rebounds for Notre Dame (27-6).
Minnesota 73, Virginia 58
MINNEAPOLIS -- Jamie Broback had 23 points and five rebounds to help third-seeded Minnesota beat Virginia for its third straight trip to the round of 16. Janel McCarville, playing her final home game, went 3-for-7 from the floor and finished with 11 points, 14 rebounds and four fouls. Minnesota (26-7) will play Baylor in Tempe on Saturday. Sharnee Zoll led sixth-seeded Virginia (21-11) with 20 points.
Baylor 69, Oregon 46
SEATTLE -- Sophia Young scored 25 points on 11-of-19 shooting, and second-seeded Baylor pulled away with an 18-0 run. The Bears improved to 29-3, their most victories since winning 29 games in 1980-81. Cathrine Kraayeveld led 10th-seeded Oregon (21-10) with 15 points.
Texas Tech 80, Middle Tennessee 69
DALLAS -- Alesha Robertson scored 25 points, and Cisti Greenwalt added 19 for fourth-seeded Texas Tech (24-7). Patrice Holmes scored 25 points for the Raiders (24-9).
