Truck driver disappears from pit stop in Pa.

His keys, phone and wallet were still locked inside his rig.
CARLISLE, Pa. (AP) -- A truck driver disappeared from a Cumberland County truck stop, leaving his cell phone, keys and wallet inside the unlocked vehicle, authorities said.
Bert Delaney Williams III, 27, a father of two from Waterbury, Conn., has been missing since at least Wednesday, when police were alerted to his rig parked at the Flying J Travel Plaza in Middlesex Township, authorities said.
"We found all his personal effects except for his driver's license," Middlesex Township police Officer Paula Mullen said. "At this point, that is where the trail ends."
Mullen said police are treating the case as a missing persons investigation.
Several of Williams' relatives arrived in Pennsylvania on Saturday and viewed surveillance tapes from the truck stop, where they spotted a man they believed to be Williams by himself on a tape from Monday, Mullen said
"He would not have just left without saying anything to anybody," said Shawn Williams, the missing man's brother. "He would have at least told our father. They talked every day."
On way to Ohio
Williams was driving the rig, which was carrying a partial load of frozen food, for MTS, a trucking company in Wilson, Wis. He was on his way from New Jersey to Ohio to pick up more cargo, Mullen said.
When he failed to arrive in Ohio, MTS officials checked the cash advances they issued on his toll card. The last advance was taken Monday evening at the truck stop, where MTS officials tracked down the rig and contacted police.
Family members told investigators that Williams had no medical conditions or personal problems that might explain his disappearance, Mullen said.
Mullen said Williams called his father either late Monday or early Tuesday and said he was in Carlisle. His truck was legally parked and showed no evidence of foul play, police said.
Police said that Williams' mother received an anonymous call at her Connecticut home and that the caller claimed her son was dead. Police are trying to determine if the call was a prank, Mullen said.
