Girard robotics team plans benefit dinner

GIRARD -- A meet-the-team and benefit spaghetti dinner will be Saturday for The Robocats, Girard High School's FIRST robotics team, Superintendent Joseph Jeswald announced Monday.
FIRST stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.
The event will be from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Girard Masonic Temple as the team works toward raising money for the national robotics competition to be held in Atlanta in March, Jeswald said.
Tickets are $5 at the door and can be reserved by calling 545-5431, ext. 107. The team will have a robot from a prior competition there as well as a display about FIRST robotics and Girard's fifth and sixth-grade LEGO League team, which the high school team mentors.
The Robocats will next compete March 25 and 26 in Columbus.
