TRUMBULL COUNTY Scout troop to mark 30 years

The event will also feature the awarding of the troop's 101st Eagle Scout.
WARREN -- Boy Scout Troop 101 is searching for former Scouts, leaders and family members to help celebrate its 30th anniversary.
The event, planned for Memorial Day weekend, will also feature the awarding of the troop's 101st Eagle Scout.
"The event is a celebration of the troop having 101 Eagle Scouts, which is the Boy Scouts' highest honor," said Scoutmaster Jim Potjunas, who is marking his 25th anniversary as the troop's scoutmaster. "Basically only 3 percent of all Boy Scouts make it to Eagle Scout. It's not easy. To become an Eagle Scout you have to earn 21 merit badges, do community service and take a leadership role in the troop. It's about a two-year process."
Potjunas said the troop wants to get the word out to former Scouts and adults associated with the troop since it started in 1975.
"They can contact the troop on our Web site alumni page at www.Troop101.net or e-mail me at potjunas@yahoo.com for more information," said Potjunas.
Traditional event
The reunion weekend will begin with an annual Troop 101 tradition, the decoration of veterans' graves at Oakwood Cemetery in Warren at 8 a.m. May 28.
A golf outing and other family activities are planned for the rest of the weekend.
According to a press release from the troop, B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge 295 has been Troop 101's chartered-partner sponsor since its inception.
During the celebration, pictures of all 101 Eagle Scouts, including this year's, Michael-Jerry Savakis, will be displayed.
The troop is located in the Arrowhead District, Greater Western Reserve Council, Boy Scouts of America. Troop 101 was also recognized by The United States Bicentennial Commission as The Official Bicentennial Boy Scout Troop of the United States of America during the nation's 200th birthday celebration, the press release said.
