Warriors Inc. plans parade for 'Unity'
YOUNGSTOWN -- Warriors Inc., the faith-based community group, is sponsoring a "Unity in the Community" parade.
The event will begin at 10 a.m. May 14. It will step off on Market Street at Midlothian Boulevard and move north to the H.O.P.E. building on Hylda Avenue, said Wendy Robinson, Community Ministry liaison for the group.
Trophies and other prizes will be awarded for the "most elaborate, distinguished, creative and unique floats," organizers said. First prize will be $200, with second and third prizes of $100 and $50 respectively.
Organizers note that no water guns or "super soakers" will be permitted in the parade. Neither will alcohol, profanity or "lewd behavior," organizers said.
Organizers note that all vehicles entered in the parade must have proof of insurance and be in good running order.
Parade entry fees are $50 for politicians, $25 for businesses, $10 for community groups or clubs. There is no fee for church or nonprofit organizations.
