LAW ENFORCEMENT Burglary sweep yields 11 arrests in Youngstown

Friday, March 11, 2005

Most of the warrants were issued in Beaver County, Pa.
YOUNGSTOWN -- There are fewer burglars in the city today, the police chief says.
"They were hanging out here and we ferreted them out to bring them to justice," Chief Robert E. Bush Jr. said Thursday. "It's a continuation of our zero tolerance policy."
A sweep Thursday resulted in the arrest of 10 adults and one juvenile, most of whom were caught in the city. Nearly all were wanted on burglary warrants issued out of Beaver County, Pa.
Some of the warrants date back to 1993, said Lt. Robin Lees.
Bush said those found in the city have or would have committed more crimes. "Burglars burgle, that's what they do," he said.
Multiple agencies
The city's Street Crimes Unit, along with the Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force, U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, Adult Parole Authority and Beaver County, Pa., Sheriff's Department, joined forces to make the arrests. No ages or addresses were available.
Patrolman Chad Zubal, a member of the SCU, identified those arrested in the city as: David A. Baker, burglary; Arthur Babuka, burglary; Timothy S. Felton, reckless endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia; Robert L. Fusco, burglary, theft and receiving stolen property; Willie Oliver III, federal weapons violation; Daryl Hall, aggravated burglary; and Marquez Perry, 15, probation violation on a burglary charge.
Arrested in Columbiana County were: Christine Brooks, burglary, receiving stolen property and theft; Mark E. Coleman, possession of marijuana; Robert C. Rankin, burglary, receiving stolen property and conspiracy; and Ismael Velasquez, theft.
Bush said having city officers on the task forces allows them to cross jurisdictional lines and interact with other police agencies.
