Monkee at Mountaineer
CHESTER, W.Va. -- Mickey Dolenz, popular star of 1960s "The Monkees" TV show, will perform at Mountaineer Race Track & amp; Gaming Resort at 7:30 p.m. March 24. Tickets are $35 gold; $25 reserved, and are available from Ticketmaster or at Mountaineer's Downtown Speakeasy. The Monkees spiraled to stardom in music and TV after their number one single, "Last Train to Clarksville," debuted Sept. 10, 1966, featuring Dolenz on lead vocal. Two days later, their television show debuted to great success. Dolenz was one of four actors chosen from 400 who auditioned. In 1986 MTV broadcast episodes and reignited Monkeemania. A record by Dolenz and Peter Tork followed and hit the Top 20, prompting them to reunite with Davy Jones for a tour so successful it led to the reissue of the Monkees' classic LPs.
