Valley volunteer recognition event scheduled for April 18

Last April, Volunteer Services Agency Inc. and the Youngstown/Mahoning Valley Volunteer Administrators Organization launched the first All Community Volunteer Recognition as a way of recognizing the accomplishments of Valley volunteers, and celebrating the spirit of National Volunteer Week.
"Inspire by Example" is the theme for this year's celebration, which will take place April 18 and kick off National Volunteer Week in the Mahoning Valley.
Jay Williams, director of Youngstown's Community Development Agency, will give the keynote address titled "The Merits of a Collective Community Vision and the Value of Volunteers."
The format of this year's recognition has been changed to include all nominations in the celebration. Agencies, programs and organizations are to submit a nomination for one volunteer or a group of volunteers who have made a significant impact on a group or in the community. Submissions describing why a nominee "Inspires by Example" is limited to 1,000 words or less and will be included in this year's program.
Deadline is March 28. Nominations and photos also may be submitted electronically; call Volunteer Services Agency for guidelines.
