Man charged in robbery
BOARDMAN -- Austintown police arrested a Niles man on a robbery charge filed by Boardman police.
Police charged Craig Honkonen, 23, of South Cleveland Avenue, Niles, with the June 3 robbery of a New Middletown man outside of Caswell's Bar, Boardman-Poland Road.
The 22-year-old victim told police he was assaulted and his cellular phone, a necklace and his driver's license were taken.
Austintown police arrested Honkonen Monday night outside a Pembrook Road apartment on the felony warrant and turned him over to Boardman police.
Facing drug charges
BOARDMAN -- Police arrested two people Monday evening on several drug charges after someone at a Glendale Avenue residence reported an odor of marijuana burning.
Jennifer L. Mondora, 26, of Glendale, was charged with permitting drug abuse and cocaine possession, both felonies, and possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.
Charles Dean Pierce, 39, of Upland Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with trafficking in cocaine and trafficking in marijuana, both felonies, and knowingly possessing marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.
Grant program June 16
YOUNGSTOWN -- A grant program is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. June 16 at the Main Library meeting room, 305 Wick Ave.
The program is an introductory session to FC Search, the Foundation Center's database on CD-ROM. The database is available in the Grant Center at the Information Services Department at the Main Library.
Grant Center programs are free and open to representatives from nonprofit organizations seeking information on finding sources and fund raising.

Arts association
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Arts and Entertainment District Association will meet at 6 p.m. today at the second-floor auditorium of the Ohio One Building.
The guest speakers are Elizabeth J. Nohra, executive director of the Children's Museum, and Nancy Haraburda, a historic site manager. The public is invited to attend.
Woman sues city, group
WARREN -- The city and the Trumbull County African-American Achiever's Association face a $25,000 lawsuit from a woman who says she fell on debris during the June 2003 festival on Courthouse Square.
Millernee Vaughns filed suit Tuesday in common pleas court, saying the defendants failed to keep the grounds free from trash. She says her fall the evening of June 8, 2003, on debris next to the curb on Mahoning Avenue, resulted in a fractured right hip and other permanent injuries, expenses, pain and suffering.
The case is assigned to Judge Peter Kontos.
Cortland Relay for Life
CORTLAND -- The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life fund-raising event in Cortland will be Friday and Saturday at the Lakeview High School track, 300 Hillman Drive.
The opening ceremony begins at 6 p.m. Friday, and activities continue for 24 hours. While cancer survivors and teams walk around the track, there will be entertainment and raffles, along with other fund-raising activities.
The city of Cortland still needs volunteers to walk at the relay and to staff its tent, where sandwiches and other items including a chance at winning a Las Vegas trip will be available.
