AUSTINTOWN -- Township voters can expect to see two renewal levies on the November ballot.
Trustees passed two resolutions at their regular meeting Monday asking the Mahoning County auditor's office to determine the amount of money that will be generated annually from a 1.5-mill road and bridge levy and from a 0.6-mill operating levy.
Both issues are renewals, meaning no additional tax money is being sought.
After determining the amount that would be collected, trustees must approve a motion to place them on the November ballot, likely at the next regular meeting.
The 0.6-mill operating levy was originally passed in 1978 and is being collected at about $132,250 this year. Voters originally passed the 1.5-mill road and bridge levy in 1976 and was to generate about $333,500 in 2005.
Cleaning up signs
In other business, trustees passed a motion to clean up signs from the rights-of-way along township roads.
Township administrator Michael B. Dockry said trustees may decide to allow signs announcing fund-raising events for nonprofit groups to be an exception.
The administrator said the police department plans to use its auxiliary officers to clean up the signs from the rights-of-way.
