Mooney junior to attendmedical leadership forum
CANFIELD -- Jose Morales, a junior at Cardinal Mooney High School, is participating in the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine taking place through Aug. 1 in Los Angeles.
The 10-day forum will introduce participants to a variety of concepts in public health, ethics, research and general practice. Youth involved will visit facilities and speak to leaders in the medical world.
Morales also plays basketball at Cardinal Mooney and is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America. He is the son of Jose and Audrey Morales.

Career center hosts event
LORDSTOWN -- The Trumbull Career & amp; Technical Center's Adult Training Center, 1776 Salt Springs Road, will host an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 2. This will provide an opportunity for high school graduates to explore the school and learn more about its seven different career training programs.
Participants can tour the facility, speak with instructors and staff, and learn about financial aid. Light refreshments will be served. In addition, the school's guidance counselor will be on hand to speak with participants and schedule appointments for interest and aptitude testing.
Nine- and 10-month career training programs offered by the TCTC Adult Training Center include: practical nursing, computerized office technology, medical assisting, automotive service technology, patient care technician, medical administrative specialist and building maintenance/construction trades.

Sophomore impresses atnational forensic contest
Joseph St. George, a sophomore at Cardinal Mooney High School and the 2005 District Champion in International Extemporaneous Speaking, represented northeast Ohio at the 2005 National Forensic League National Tournament held in Philadelphia in June. More than 1,500 of the nation's most talented speakers participated.
St. George captured sixth in the nation in International Extemporaneous Speaking. For one week, he spoke on subjects ranging from international foreign policy to the world environment. His final round speech was delivered at the Kimmel Center, home to the Philadelphia Orchestra.
This fall, his performance will also be featured on a video endorsed and sold by the National Forensic League. He was accompanied by Mooney's Forensic Director, Diane Mastro Nard, and his division coach, Edward Czopur.
In May, St. George competed at the Catholic Nationals in Milwaukee, Wis., and placed seventh in his respective division.
He is the son of James and Ann St. George of Boardman.
