GIRLS BASKETBALL Boardman wins semifinal

Boardman will play Feb. 8 in the championship game.
BOARDMAN -- Jessica Moore scored 17 points to lead Boardman High to a 42-35 victory over Canton GlenOak, in the semifinals of the Federal League girls basketball playoffs.
Brittany Sirak added nine points for the Spartans (13-2), who avenged a 48-44 loss to GlenOak on Jan. 15.
Boardman will play either Canton McKinley or North Canton Hoover in the championship game on Feb. 8 at the Canton Civic Center. McKinley and Hoover will play in the other semifinal on Wednesday.
Abbie Sullivan scored 15 points for GlenOak (13-5), who will play the loser of the McKinley-Hoover game in the third-place contest on Feb. 8.
In another Federal League playoff game Saturday, Fitch lost to Massillon Jackson (1-16), 68-42. No details from the game were reported.
Fitch (7-9) will play Feb. 7 against either Massillon Perry or Uniontown Lake for seventh place.
Salem 61, Struthers 23
STRUTHERS -- Sarah Hamilton had 16 points, eight rebounds and six steals to lead Salem.
Kelly Roelen added 15 points and four steals for the Quakers (16-0, 10-0 Metro Athletic Conference).
Meredith Miles added eight rebounds and Sarah Raveli had seven, as Salem held a 52-21 edge on the boards.
Liz Valerio led Struthers (5-11, 4-5) with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Howland 52, Niles 15
NILES -- Carolyn Hanshaw scored 22 points and added 11 rebounds for Howland.
Alexa Williams scored 10 points for the Tigers (11-5, 6-4 MAC), while Ali Airhart had four assists and four steals.
Stephanie Parish led Niles (1-14, 0-8) with six points.
Canfield 74, Alliance 22
CANFIELD -- Kanwaldeep Kaur scored 14 points, making four 3-pointers, to lead Canfield in a MAC game.
Kate Popovec added 11 points for the Cardinals (10-5, 6-1), while Stephanie Zunic scored seven.
Alliance (1-15, 1-8) was led by Allison Gansel with seven points.
Rayen 65, Canton Timken 47
CANTON -- Taniesha Holland had 25 points and eight rebounds, as Rayen completed an unbeaten City Series schedule.
Brittany Taylor added 18 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers (14-2, 8-0), who trailed 43-42 after three periods but outscored Timken 23-4 over the final eight minutes.
Rilonda Neal finished with 13 points, nine rebounds and three steals for Rayen. Taylor also had three steals, and Holland had four assists.
Janee Alexander led Timken (6-10, 3-2) with 16 points. Mardez Desmond scored 13, and Marilyn Roberts had 10.
Newton Falls 42, Chaney 38
YOUNGSTOWN -- Lindsay Calland scored 14 points to lead Newton Falls to its second win.
Kortni Collins had 15 rebounds for the Tigers (2-14), who led 18-15 at halftime.
Tieara Jones scored 12 points to lead Chaney (8-7).
Ashtabula SJP 53,Youngstown Christian 49
YOUNGSTOWN -- Angela Notte scored 17 points for Sts. John & amp; Paul, which clinched the East Suburban Conference championship.
Kaitlyn Tinney added 12 points for the Heralds (14-1, 8-0 ESC).
Youngstown Christian (7-8, 3-5) was led by Danielle Pecchia, with 14 points. Kara Cooper added 12 points, and Rachel Coristin had 10 rebounds and five steals.
Sharon 54, Meadville 49
MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Nikki Odom finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead Sharon.
The Tigers (16-3), who led 32-20 at halftime, also got 16 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals from Brittany Csatlos.
