Award of Excellence
YOUNGSTOWN -- Joseph Fiumara, associate director and vice president of Youngstown's Accordia of Ohio, was among six graduates of the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters who achieved top honors in the eight national examinations. He won the Award of Excellence, a plaque and a check for $750. A Poland High School and Youngstown State University graduate, he's a New Middletown resident. The institute's Loman Education Foundation presented awards to the top graduates in class of 2,261.
Driver of the Month
NORTH LIMA -- Jeffrey Acord, an over-the-road driver for Roadway Express, was recently named Driver of the Month for December 2004. Acord, 40, is based at the Roadway Express North Lima relay. He is a member of Local 377 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and a union steward. His career in transportation spans 18 years, 17 of them with Roadway Express. He has reached a milestone of driving just over 1.3 million safe miles without a preventable accident. Acord and his wife of 14 years, Dee, live in Boardman, with their twin sons, Derrick and Johnathan.
Insurance designation
MALVERN, Pa. -- Robert I. Griffith III has been awarded the professional insurance designation Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter by the American Institute for CPCU, an institute spokesman announced. The institute is an independent, not-for-profit educational organization that confers the CPCU designation on people who complete eight rigorous courses and national examinations and meet its ethics and experience requirements. Robert has been employed as an agent with The Griffith Agency Inc. in Girard, Ohio, since his graduation from The Ohio State University in 1996. Robert lives in Girard with his wife, Kathie, and daughter, Sophie.
