COURT 2 get prison for drug sales

People received probation for offenses from retail theft to burglary.
MERCER, Pa. -- A woman and a man have received prison terms for selling cocaine.
Judge John Reed of the Mercer County Common Pleas Court sentenced Brenda Thorpe, 44, of First Avenue, Sharon, to one to two years in prison followed by three years' probation for possession with intent to manufacture/deliver, a felony. According to court documents, on two occasions in November 2003 she sold crack cocaine to an undercover agent at her residence.
Maurice Davis Jr., 20, of Brookfield Avenue, Masury, was also sentenced to one to two years in prison followed by two years' probation for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a felony. On July 7, 2004, according to court documents, he delivered two packages of cocaine to a 17-year-old girl at a Mesabi Street, Sharon, residence. He also punched two women in the face in an attempt to intimidate witnesses to a crime.

Several others received probation.
UJames Combine, 21, of the Cambria County Jail, Ebensburg, was placed on five years' probation and ordered to pay restitution for criminal conspiracy to robbery, a felony. He was given 218 days credit for time served. According to court documents, on June 18, 2004, Combine threatened a woman with a gun and took $200 from a cash register at Hoffman's Store, 1203 Greenville-Mercer Road, Jefferson Township.
UOlivia Consider, 28, of College Avenue, Greenville, was placed on five years' probation for receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia and theft by deception, all misdemeanors. According to court documents, in July 2004, she told a cashier at Wal-Mart, 45 Williamson Road, Hempfield Township, that she would leave a $99 set of rings in a cart while she went outside to retrieve money for them, then failed to return with the money or the rings. On July 20, 2004, she was apprehended with stolen items including jeans, 50 compact discs, identity documents, about $100 in cash, a car stereo, camera, and other miscellaneous items. They had been taken from several locations in Greenville.
UCharles Moore, 20, also of College Avenue, Greenville, was placed on five years' probation and ordered to make restitution for theft by unlawful taking and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. He was found in July 2004 in possession of small bags, pipes and rolling papers commonly used in ingesting illegal drugs. That month he also was apprehended in connection with the theft of the jeans, 50 compact discs, identity documents and miscellaneous items.
UMaria Hall, 19, of Mesabi Street, Sharon, was placed on 24 months' probation for retail theft and false identification to law enforcement, both misdemeanors. According to court documents, on June 30, 2004, she signed three fingerprint cards under an assumed name and identified herself to Hermitage police as another woman. She also stole $178 worth of clothing from J.C. Penney, 3405 E. State St., Hermitage.
UShawnte Jackson, 24, of New Castle Avenue, Sharon, was placed on three years' probation and fined $100 for three counts of misdemeanor simple assault and retail theft, a summary offense. On May 10, 2004, he punched a woman, injuring her chest, punched another man and bit his arm and punched a third man as well as trying to bite and scratch him after stealing $66 worth of shirts and shorts from Wal-Mart, 3300 Shenango Valley Highway, Hermitage, according to court documents,
UGary Taylor Jr., 28, of Alderman Avenue, Sharon, was placed on 24 months' probation for felony burglary of an unoccupied business. Taylor broke into Quaker Steak and Lube, 101 Chestnut St., Sharon, on July 2, 2004, and took about 90 bottles of beer and liquor. He was also ordered to make restitution.
