Pact awarded for waterline project testing

WARREN -- Trumbull County commissioners on Wednesday awarded a $3,505 contract to test the ground for a Weathersfield Township waterline project.
PSI Environmental Geo-Technical Construction of Girard will do the work as part of the Austintown-Warren Road waterline project.
This contract involves soil borings, pavement cores, soil condition and rock density analyses.
Also involved will be traffic maintenance during the testing.
Alan Knapp, county planning commission director, told county commissioners that some of the $572,500 waterline will run under old railroad bridges. Planners want to know what rocks and other materials might be in the way of the waterline.
The money comes from the county's revolving loan fund, administered by the planning commission.
Development project
Also Wednesday, the commissioners approved an extension of sanitary sewer and water for a development project with ties to Commissioner Daniel Polivka's family. The water and sewer extensions will be paid by the developer.
Polivka abstained from the vote; Commissioners James Tsagaris and Paul Heltzel voted in favor.
