WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Ed McCants scored 11 of his 15 points in the second half for Wisconsin-Milwaukee. McCants hit a 3-pointer to spark an 11-1 run midway through the second half that gave the Panthers (15-4) their first lead and propelled them to their eighth win in a row. Adrian Tigert added 17 points for the Panthers, who hounded the reeling Boilermakers with a tenacious full-court press. Carl Landry had 26 points and 10 rebounds for Purdue (4-13), but did most of his damage in the first 22 minutes and faded down the stretch as the Boilermakers lost for the seventh time in a row. Purdue was up by as many as 11 points in the first half and led for the first 27 minutes before the Panthers made their run. McCants got things going, then Tigert and Chris Hill followed with 3-pointers. McCants capped the run with a reverse layup for a 61-52 lead with under nine minutes to play. That score came after Purdue's third straight turnover, prompting coach Gene Keady to bury his face in his hands and mutter to himself in frustration.
Northwestern 75, No. 23 Iowa 74, OT
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Michael Jenkins' 3-pointer at the overtime buzzer hit the rim, bounced high and fell through and gave Northwestern a stunning victory over No. 23 Iowa. Northwestern's players and fans raced to the floor to mob Jenkins, a senior walk-on, following the dramatic victory that saw the Wildcats (9-9, 2-4 Big Ten) rally from 12 down with 3:27 to go in regulation. Vedran Vukusic, who was doubtful to start because of a sore shoulder, scored a career-high 32 points for Northwestern. Greg Brunner had a career-high 28 points for Iowa (14-5, 2-4) in the Hawkeyes' second crushing defeat in three games. Six days ago, they lost in overtime to top-ranked Illinois.
Minnesota 70, Indiana 65
MINNEAPOLIS -- Jeff Hagen had 15 points and eight rebounds to lead Minnesota to an important victory. Vince Grier also scored 15 points, and J'son Stamper -- getting his third start of the season -- had nine points and eight rebounds to help the Gophers (14-5, 4-2 Big Ten) win for the 12th time in 14 games. D.J. White led the Hoosiers (9-8, 4-2) with 23 points, and Bracey Wright missed all 10 of his 3-point attempts to finish with 19 points. Indiana's four-game winning streak ended after a 2-for-19 shooting performance from behind the arc. Minnesota went 6-for-15.
