AREA COLLEGES Johnson's layup gives SRU victory



SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Bill Johnson made a layup with 5.2 seconds remaining to give Slippery Rock a 69-68 win over Lock Haven in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division game Saturday.
Glenn Reepmeyer scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds to pace SRU (3-15, 1-2 PSAC-W). Johnson added 13 points. Brandon Thompson had 12 points and eight assists off the bench for the Rock.
Lock Haven is 2-15, 0-3.
Denison 85, Allegheny 79
MEADVILLE, Pa. - Casey McCloskey scored 23 points for Allegheny, and Matt Majzlik added 18.
Freshman guard Justin Schmitt scored nine points to go along with seven assists and six steals for the Gators (6-11, 3-6 North Coast Conference). Bill Babe, also a freshman, had 10 points, five steals, three rebounds and three assists.
Denison (7-9, 4-5) was led by junior forward Robb Hern, who had 32 points and 17 rebounds.
Women
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Kristen Bonner scored a game-high 23 points and Stacey Green recorded a double-double as Slippery Rock recorded its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division win of the season, 59-47 over Lock Haven.
Green scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. Erin Frankovich added 10 points and five rebounds, and Amber McFeely handed out a game-high nine assists for The Rock (7-11, 1-2 PSAC-W).
SRU held the Bald Eagles (2-15, 1-2) to 33 percent shooting and shot 10-for-11 at the foul line.
