Penguins shooting to end skid

Youngstown losing streak at eight heading into today against Cleveland State.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown State men's basketball team tries for its second Horizon League win of the season today, when the Penguins play host to Cleveland State at 7 p.m.
Youngstown State (3-14, 1-6 HL) has won its past two games over Cleveland State at home by a combined six points. Last year, YSU held off the Vikings 86-82, and won 57-55 in 2003.
The Penguins have lost eight consecutive games since beating Loyola of Chicago on Dec. 21. YSU's most recent contest was a 50-37 loss at Butler on Wednesday night. Quin Humphrey scored a game-high 15 points for Youngstown State.
Cleveland State (4-10, 1-5) lost 85-65 at league-leader UW-Milwaukee on Thursday. Raheem Moss was the only Viking to reach double figures, finishing with 12 points.
For the season, Omari Westley leads Cleveland State, averaging 16.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. Westley leads the Horizon League in rebounds per game.
They meet again
The Vikings opened the season with three consecutive victories, but since that time their lone win was a 16-point victory over Youngstown State on Jan. 8.
In the game, won by Cleveland State 78-62, YSU led by one point with 17 minutes remaining.
YSU overcame a 39-35 halftime deficit to pull in front 42-41 on a basket by senior Brian Radakovich. CSU answered when Moss scored on a fast break at the 16:54 mark and never trailed again.
Moss followed that basket by drilling a 3-pointer to push the lead to 46-42 at the 16:08 mark. Humphrey made two free throws to get YSU within two at 14:51. After Humphrey's free throws, the Vikings went on a 16-6 run to pull away.
Humphrey continues to lead the Penguins in scoring, with a 13.8 points per game average. Radakovich is next with an 11.6 average, and he is first in rebounding with an average of 6.0 per game.
Humphrey is averaging 5.3 rebounds per game.
Youngstown State as a team is shooting just 39.6 percent from the floor this season, including 30.7 percent (82-of-267) from 3-point range.
The Penguins are also being outrebounded, by almost six per game (37.2 to 31.6). YSU has also committed 26 more turnovers than its opponents and has 63 fewer assists.
