Austintown Community Baseball will hold sign-ups Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at Champ Park Clubhouse. First year players must have birth certificates. Additional information is available at www.acbleague.com.
The Boardman Lady Spartans Fastpitch Club will host its annual "Night at the Races" on Jan. 29 at Operating Engineers Hall, 291 McClurg Road. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door, adults only. Also included is a 50/50 raffle and an auction featuring items signed by members of the USA Softball Team and footballs from Dan Marino and Franco Harris. The Kent State University softball team will conduct a pitching, catching and hitting camps for girls in third through 12th grades on Feb. 13. The camps will be held at the Kent State Field House on Summit Road. Registration for each of the camps is $40 before Feb. 4. Late registration is $45. Howland Athletic Club will register baseball and softball players ages 5 and older for the 2005 season at H.C. Mines Elementary School. Registration times are from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 17, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 19, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 23 and 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 26. BB Rooner Baseball and Baseball Systems will conduct a baseball clinic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 29 at Pleasant Valley Church in Niles. The morning session will feature an all-skills camp for boys ages 8-12. The afternoon session will be a pitching camp for boys ages 13-18. Cost is $20 and includes lunch. Liberty Township Baseball Association will register players for the 2005 baseball and softball seasons on Jan. 29 and Feb. 5. Registration is for boys ages 5-17 and girls ages 5-18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Liberty High School. First-time registrants need a birth certificate and proof of residency. A parent must accompany players and sign the registration card. Fees range from $45 to $75.
The Zicard Furniture Baseball Reunion Committee will host a reunion of players, coaches and friends of the teams coached by Fred Faiver on April 23. The reunion will be from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Amen Corner Sports Bar at 20 W. Main St. in Girard. Mahoning Valley Coaches Association invites coaches and athletic directors in the Mahoning Valley to attend its 2005 Winter Social on Monday. The event will be held at the Italian-American Club at 115 S. Meridian Road in Youngstown. Cocktail hour begins at 6:30 p.m. and dinner starts at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $8. Dues are $5 per coach.
